Today, the Bollywood industry woke up to the sad news of legendary filmmaker Basu Chatterjee passing away at the age 93. The filmmaker who has given some amazing classic films in the past left us for his heavenly abode due to age-related illness. Quite a few celebs from the fraternity including Divya Dutta, Jimmy Shergill, Madhur Bhandarkar, to name a few, took to their Twitter handle to offer him condolences. Amongst many, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s producer Asit Kumarr Modi has expressed his grief and paid him condolences.

While sharing a tweet, he also recalled a memory that occurred at the beginning of his career, he mentioned how he used to shoot with ease and patience back then. His tweet read, “Beginning of my career, I was executive producer of Tv show #Rajani 2nd season for #DDmetro wonderful character created by #BasuChatterjee I used to meet him and watched him shooting with very ease, patience. His films simple storytelling with deep thoughts and humour. My Prayers”

The tragic demise news was shared by the Indian Film & TV Directors’ Association president Ashoke Pandit shared the news on his Twitter handle and also mentioned that his rites performed today at Santacruz cremation at 2 pm while saying that is a great loss. His tweet read, “I am extremely grieved to inform you all the demise of Legendary Filmmaker Basu Chatterjee ji. His last rites will be performed today at Santacruz cremation at 2 pm. It’s a great loss to the industry. Will miss you, Sir. #RIPBasuChaterjee.”


The filmmaker has delivered some memorable classic films like Us Paar, Chhoti Si Baat (1975), Chitchor (1976), Rajnigandha (1974), Piya Ka Ghar (1972), Khatta Meetha, Chakravyuha (1978), Baton Baton Mein (1979), Priyatama (1977), Man Pasand, Hamari Bahu Alka, Shaukeen (1982), Chameli Ki Shaadi and many more. ALSO READ: Choti Si Baat Filmmaker Basu Chatterjee Dies At 93; His Last Rites To Be Performed At Santacruz At 2PM
