Another day, another heartbreaking news coming in from the entertainment industry. It's only been a couple of days since we lost music composer Wajid Khan, while legendary actors like Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor left us for their heavenly abode in April. And while we are yet to get over such huge loss, earlier today, veteran filmmaker Basu Chatterjee, who is known for films like Ek Ruka Hua Faisla, Choti Si Baat, Rajnigandha and Priyatma among many others, passed away at the age of 93. It is being reported that he succumbed to age-related ailments. Filmmaker and Indian Film & the President of TV Directors' Association, Ashoke Pandit took to his social media fo break the devastating news.

In his tweet, Ashoke expressed his sorrow on Basu's death and also revealed that the late filmmaker's last rites are slated to take place in Santacruz at 2 PM today. "I am extremely grieved to inform you all the demise of Legendary Filmmaker Basu Chatterjee ji . His last rites will be performed today at Santacruz creamation at 2 pm. It’s a great loss to the industry. Will miss you Sir. #RIPBasuChaterjee," read Ashoke Pandit's tweet.

Following the news, several users took to social media and mourned Basu's death. A lot of them also shared their favourite films helmed by him.

"What a man! Lit up our younger movie-going days with Rajnigandha, Chitchor, Chhoti Si Baat, Khatta Meetha, Baton Baton Mein, so many more. #BasuChatterjee," wrote a user, while another added, "#BasuChatterjee's films were natural mood lifters and always a bonafide conversation starters. A genius who managed to present complex moral dilemmas of middle class and urban India in a realistic yet light hearted manner."
