Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Tiger Zinda Hai may have opened to fabulous numbers at the box-office, but the film seems to landed itself in trouble. The reason being Salman Khan’s casteist slur on a reality show while promoting the film.

On the show, he had compared his dancing skills to a sanitation worker or a bhangi. Shilpa Shetty, who judges the show, too compared her look at home to the backward caste.

This statement has been taken as derogatory by some of the people belonging to scheduled castes and sanitisation workers. As a result of that, mass protests have been taking place in some places in the country. In fact, a complaint was registered by the Valmiki community against Salman and Shilpa.

After Rajasthan, the protests have now spread to Agra, according to reports. A large crowd of members of the Valmiki community, including Agra municipal corporation’s sanitation workers, hijacked a Municipal truck and attacked a film theatre where Tiger Zinda Hai was running.

Speaking to India Today, the theatre manager Mohd. Imtiyaz Chand said, “A huge mob of Valmiki community members tried to enter the gates of the theatre today, demanding that the film be pulled down immediately. The demonstrators claimed that Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty have humiliated the Valmiki community by making some comments on the community. When the film wasn’t stopped, the mob attacked the theatre with rocks and tore down the film posters from the walls.”
