Video: Mamta Kulkarni Hires Hot-Shot Lawyers From NY, Kenya & Mumbai To Clear Her Name In Drug Haul Case

In an interview to a news channel last month, yesteryear heroine Mamta Kulkarni had claimed that she is not worried about being a prime accused in a multi-crore drug racket linked to her drug baron-husband Vicky Goswami. “After 16 years of penance, your conscience and soul become absolutely pure. Then it really doesn’t matter if others call you a thief, drug trafficker or murderer.”

While she may have spoken like a true ‘Yogini’ -- that’s what she proclaims to be -- the reality is startlingly different. SpotboyE.com has it that Mamta is deeply disturbed about her being accused of an offence as heinous as drug-trafficking. She even gave a few media interviews, hoping that her spiritual makeover might tilt the law enforcement authorities’ opinion in her favour, but in vain.

In June this year, Thane Police commissioner Param Bir Singh said based on the statements of arrested suspects and inputs received from the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), they had confirmed Mamta’s involvement in the Rs 2000-crore drug haul. The top cop also said they are planning to get her extradited from Kenya, where she currently resides.

Like we said earlier, the actress has been spending sleepless nights trying to clear her name in the case. She has hired 3 super-successful lawyers from as many continents -- Daniel Arshack from New York, Cliff Ombeta from Kenya and Majeed Memon from Mumbai -- to get her out of the legal tangle.

Both Daniel and Cliff are already in Mumbai and tomorrow, they’ll accompany Majeed to meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi.

Talking EXCLUSIVELY to SpotboyE.com a short while ago, Majeed said, “Two lawyers have come -- one from NY and the other from Kenya. We are meeting the Union Home Minister tomorrow at 2 pm and later, there will be a press conference in Mumbai. I don’t know whether she is innocent or guilty, but if the police have no evidence against her, they should not try for her extradition. I am going to tell the Minister the same thing tomorrow -- there is no material evidence to waste time and money on her pursuit and humiliate her.”

We hear, Mamta believes she is still the sexy young actress she used to be and is extremely concerned about her ‘image’. So much so, she even refuses to step outside the house, thinking people will recognise her. So, for the past several days, she has been cooped up inside her home, battling claustrophobia and suffocation.

The entire case began in April this year, when Thane police seized Rs 2,000 crore-worth of the banned party drug Ephedrine. Later, based on information given by 2 arrested peddlers, the cops found 18,000 kg of the drug in a factory owned by Avon Lifesciences in Solapur. Mamta, they found out, is on the company’s board of directors and owns shares worth Rs 11 lakh. Not just that, an accused also testified that she was part of business meetings in which details of the drug trade and distribution were discussed.
