Why Did MS Dhoni Retire From International Cricket At Precisely 1929 Hrs? Fan Theories Decoding Mystery Behind The Timing Are Fascinating
On August 15, former Indian captain MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on social media, after which waves of wishes poured in from every corner of the world. Within minutes, Suresh Raina also took to his social media to announce his retirement from International cricket. A few days ago, Suresh Raina explained how and why the date August 15 was chosen for announcing their retirements. Now, curious fans are also left wondering why Dhoni announced his retirement precisely at 19:29 hrs.

MS Dhoni’s post on social media read, “Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout.from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired.” Now, several fan theories have emerged on the Internet as to why this timing was chosen specifically to announce this huge decision. One of them suggests that it was  19:29 hrs local time in Manchester that Team India lost the semi-final of the World Cup of 2019 against New Zealand. It was the last match of MS Dhoni that he played for the country wherein he scored 50 off 72 balls which ended in heartbreak for the Indian fans. Co-incidentally fans also noticed that the timing of the tweet for former Kiwi cricketer Grant Elliott lauding New Zealand’s performance was 7:29 pm too.

Meanwhile, another theory suggests that it has something to do with angel number 1929 which carries a message that one has completed a major phase or cycle in their life. Another theory is about the sunset time on August 15, that is, on the day Dhoni announced his retirement. In India, it is in the westernmost point in India, the Guhar Moti in Gujarat, that the sunset is observed last, and the timing of sunset that day was 7:29 pm.

These are just a few out of the many theories floating on the Internet. We would definitely like to know if there was any significance to the specific time Dhoni chose to retire. Meanwhile, Suresh Raina, while speaking to Dainik Jagran, said that he and Dhoni had already decided to retire on August 15. “Dhoni’s jersey number is 7 and mine is 3- put it together and it makes 73. And on August 15, India completed 73 years of independence, so there couldn’t have been a better day,” said Raina.
