Ameen Sayani left for his heavenly abode on Tuesday. At the age of 91, he passed away in Mumbai due to a heart attack. He gained recognition by hosting the popular radio show Binaca Geetmala during the 50’s. Confirming the news of his passing, Sayani’s son Rajil Sayani told Indian Express that his funeral will be taking place on Thursday as the iconic radio presenter’s family is waiting for the relatives to reach Mumbai on Wednesday.
As reported by the Hindustan Times, the presenters suffered a heart attack on Tuesday night. He was rushed to the HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai, where he breathed his last. Quoting Rajil’s statement to the publication, HT stated, “The doctors at the hospital attended him but couldn’t save him and he was declared dead.” Netizens have been left shocked at the heartbreaking news. They have taken to social media to express their condolences and take a trip down memory lane.

For those who don’t know, Ammer Sayani’s introduction ‘Namaskar bhaiyon aur behno, main aapka dost Ameen Sayani bol raha hoon’ had taken the listeners by storm. He was born in Mumbai in December 1932. His famous show Binaca Geetmala was broadcast since 1952, over Radio Celon and then Vividh Bharati (AIR), for over 42 years. If reports are to be believed, he has produced and spoken for over 54,000 radio shows and 19,000 jingles since 1951.
He has also been a part of movies like Bhoot Bungla, Teen Devian, Boxer, and Qatl, where he essayed the role of an announcer during some events. Fans have been taking to social media to reminisce about his work. Condolences from all corners have been pouring in on social media.
