Virat Kohli pens a long note as he announces stepping down from the Test match captaincy role
Ace Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has been considered as one of the most effective and goal-oriented players. Leading the Indian cricket team, he has his shares of ups and downs, the player on Saturday announced his decision of stepping down from the Test Match captain in the Instagram post. His decision came after the 1-2 defeat to South Africa in the ongoing tournament. In his note, he mentioned the hard work, perseverance and honesty he had in his work for 7 long years.
“Everything has to come to a halt at some stage and for me as Test captain of India” Virat further mentions that he believes in giving 120% when it comes to work, but when he realized he is falling short of it, he understood it is not the right time and decided to goodbye to the captaincy duties. He further thanked BCCI for having faith in him, “I want to thank the BCCI for giving me the opportunity to lead my country for such a long period of time and more importantly to all the teammates who bought into the vision I had for the team from day one and never gave up in any situation. You guys have made this journey so memorable and beautiful.”
Further thanking Ravi Bhatia and his support that helped him take the test cricket upwards.
