Vijay Deverakonda To Return Rs 6 Crore To Liger Producers After Film Failed At Box Office; Actor Likely To Return Money From His Salary-Report
South superstar Vijay Deverakonda’s latest offering ‘Liger’ failed to impress the audience and critics alike. The Puri Jagannadh’s directorial that marked Vijay’s Bollywood debut earned just Rs 4.50 crore on its first day at the box office. The producers have suffered a great loss as the film was made on more than Rs. 100 crore budget. As per the latest reports, Deverakonda has decided to return Rs. 6 crores from his fee to producers to make up for the losses.

A News18 report mentioned that the Arjun Reddy star is likely to return Rs. 6 crores to Liger producers as the film has turned out to be a disaster at the box office. The actor had reportedly charged Rs 35 crore for the film. But now in the wake of heavy losses, Vijay will be giving up a part of his remuneration to compensate. The report added that the poor collection of Liger has also greatly affected his next project ‘Jana Gana Mana’ with Puri Jagannadh. It is being reported that the budget for this upcoming film has been reduced with both Vijay and Puri letting go of their fees. The actor is expected to take his share of the profit only if Jana Gana Mana performs well at BO. While his performance was hailed, the film emerged as a big flop at the box office. The film is said to have minted Rs 66.89 crore gross worldwide and Rs 18.7 crore for the Hindi version.

‘Liger’ was bankrolled by Karan Johar and Charmme Kaur and was released on August 25, 2022, amid much fanfare.
