Veteran Actor Jayant Sawarkar Passes Away At The Age Of 88, Due To Old Age In Mumbai's Hospital- Read REPORTS
Veteran Marathi and Hindi actor Jayant Sawarkar left for his heavenly abode on Monday morning at the age of 88. He had made a name for himself in the entertainment industry with his powerful performances in theatres, movies and shows including Bollywood. According to a report by Pune Mirror, he breathed last at a private hospital in Mumbai where he had been admitted for the past fifteen days.

The report further states that despite receiving continuous treatment, his health started deteriorating eventually. He was then put on a ventilator but he couldn’t survive. Sawarkar breathed his last on Monday morning, leaving his admirers and the entire Marathi film fraternity in shock. Many have taken to social media to mourn the loss of the veteran, who has been a part of over 100 Marathi plays.

For the unversed, he has essayed more than 30 characters in Hindi film itself. Born in 1936, he started his career as a junior artist in 1955. Over the span of five decades, he had been a part of more than 50 films. The President of the 97th All India Marathi Theatre Conference, he became a popular face on Indian television. 

He has been a part of plays like ‘Aparadh Meich Kela’ (Gole Master), ‘Apurankank,’ ‘Alibaba Chalis Chor,’ ‘Aladdin Jaducha Diva,’ ‘Aamhi Jagato Befam,’ ‘Ekach Pyala.’ He was also seen in Rohit Shetty directorial Singham. The late actor was awarded the Natwarya Prabhakar Panshikar lifetime achievement award by the Government of Maharashtra for his contribution to theatre. He leaves behind his legacy for the audiences to remember him by.
