Sonali Phogat, who rose to fame with TikTok then joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is trending on social media for all the wrong reasons. A video of her repeatedly slapping and thrashing a male official has gone viral, bringing her at the receiving end of backlash and trolling. It is being reported that the argument followed by Sonali's violent assault took place after the man in question passed some unwanted comments. The incident took place on Friday when Phogat was out inspecting farmers' market.

Reports state that Sonali went with a list of farmers' complaint to Sultan Singh, a member of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, who allegedly made an objectionable comment.  This didn't go down very well with Phogat and she started thrashing and abusing the official. As the politician starts hitting him, Sultan starts pleading her to stop by saying that was nothing all her complaints and he will address them soon. Sonali Phogat then called the police and a complaint against both Sonali and Sultan has been filed. As per NDTV, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala has urged the Haryana Chief Minister to take strict action against her.

Netizens, too, have expressed their rage over Sonali's violent behaviour. "Shameful act from a TikTokiya cum BJP leader, #SonaliPhogat. If the man is at fault then there are laws to handle it, this isn't the right way to punish anyone, she has no authority to use her political power like this. Who the hell is she to take the law into her own hands?" wrote a user, while another tweeted, "One should never take the law into their own hands!#SonaliPhogat."
