The FIRST-EVER Video On YouTube Was Posted 15 Years Ago Today; Co-Founder Jawed Karim’s ‘Me At The Zoo’ Is A Must WATCH
In the 21st century, the Internet has completely changed the way we live our lives and get our information on a daily basis. The shift of getting information from newspapers and news channels has completely shifted to now being video-based. A big part of this revolution is because of YouTube. While over the years, there have been several video-sharing platforms, our go-to website for videos, until a few years ago, was YouTube.  And today exactly 15 years ago, the first-ever video on YouTube was uploaded.

23rd April 2005 has been a date etched in the online history forever. The first-ever video posted on the website was by the YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim which was 18-second long and was titled “Me at the zoo.” It is the only video on the co-founder’s channel and has garnered more than 90 million views over the years. As you click play on the video, a young Karim’s face comes up on the screen, with a few elephants in the background. Karim, in the video, says, “Alright, so here we are, in front of the elephants.”

Karim further says, “The cool thing about these guys is that they have really, really, really long, um, trunks. And that’s, that’s cool.”

Ending the video, Jawed Karim simply says, “And that's pretty much all there is to say." Well, it’s oddly refreshing to see the video, and while we are now used to seeing videos in HD, Ultra-HD qualities, this one, shot years ago, may be in low quality, but it’s so fascinating to watch how it all began.
