The Beatles Legend John Lennon's 'Unwanted' Grammy Award Goes For Sale In The Auction For A Staggering Rs 4.16 Crore
An anticipated auction is set to feature a Grammy Award once owned by the late John Lennon, estimated to fetch up to $500,000 which is approx INR 4.16 crore. The renowned Beatles icon, tragically shot in 1980, along with bandmates Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and the late George Harrison, received the Grammy Trustee statuettes in 1972 for their exceptional contributions to recording. However, Lennon declined to keep his trophy, expressing to the Grammys president, "I'm not a Beatle anymore, you can keep it." The iconic singer's Grammy is now available for sale through the music memorabilia auction house, Gotta Have Rock and Roll, as reported by femalefirst.co.uk.

The auction house's website describes the award as follows: "The Beatles 1972 Grammy Trustee Award Presented to The Beatle John Lennon (John Gifted the award to the Head of Apple Records who was also the President of Naras The Grammys). The Grammy Trustees Award honors individuals who have made substantial contributions, apart from performing, to the recording industry. In 1972, The Beatles were recipients of this award. Each member received their Grammy, and this particular piece was presented to John Lennon."

The current bid for the award stands at $200,000, and it is anticipated to climb higher before the auction concludes on Friday. Furthermore, Gotta Have Rock and Roll is also offering other Beatles memorabilia in the auction. These items include handwritten lyrics, a 1964 signed US tour contract, an autographed setlist, as well as personal possessions such as John's sunglasses, a fountain pen, and a matchbook.
