Legendary Pakistani actor Talat Hussain passed away on Sunday, May 26, after a prolonged illness, as confirmed by Pakistani film director and editor Arsalan Khan on the platform X. Khan shared the sorrowful news of Hussain’s death, expressing his admiration for the actor and extending prayers for his soul, hoping he is granted the highest ranks in Jannah. Talat Hussain, born on September 18, 1940, had a storied career spanning several decades. He earned acclaim for his performances in television dramas, movies, and stage plays, becoming a beloved figure in Pakistani entertainment.

Talat Hussain’s career was marked by his roles in popular TV dramas such as Arjumand, Ansoo, Bandish," Des Pardes, Tariq Bin Ziad, Eid ka Jora, and Fanooni Latifey Hawain, among others. His talent and versatility made him a household name and a respected artist in the industry. Hussain’s educational background included studying at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, which significantly contributed to his refined acting skills.

Throughout his career, Hussain received numerous accolades, including the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) in 2021 and the Pride of Performance Award in 1982, both conferred by the Government of Pakistan. These honors reflected his immense contributions to the arts and his standing as one of Pakistan’s finest actors. Hussain was married to Professor Rakhshanda Hussain and was a father to three children: two daughters and one son. His family, along with his extensive fan base, was left to mourn his passing.




Following his death, an outpouring of condolences flooded social media. Fans, politicians, and fellow performers expressed their grief and paid tribute to Hussain’s legacy. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted Hussain’s invaluable contributions to radio, theater, and television, stating that the void left by his passing would be irreplaceable. Acting President Yousuf Raza Gilani echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that Hussain’s contributions to the arts would forever be cherished.










Ahmed Shah, President of the Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) in Karachi, also confirmed Hussain’s passing. Shah noted that the actor had been under medical care at a private hospital in Karachi for an extended period. The loss of Talat Hussain is a significant blow to the Pakistani entertainment industry, and his memory will continue to be honoured by those who appreciate his work and talent.
