At the 77th Cannes Film Festival, she showcased her talent by donning her self-designed outfits, capturing the attention of fashion enthusiasts globally. During her podcast interview with Ranveer Allahabadia, Nancy revealed the challenging circumstances of her upbringing. She shared that her mother worked as a factory worker, and their family struggled to get by on a monthly income of six to seven thousand rupees, which was far from enough to cover their basic needs. During those tough days of struggle, she said she thought of ending her life several times implying suicidal thoughts in the past.
She disclosed that the hardships of those days were so overwhelming that she contemplated ending her life several times. Nevertheless, her determination to improve her family's situation kept her going. She credited her mother for tirelessly working to provide for the family, despite the difficult conditions. This unwavering support and example of resilience inspired Nancy to keep striving for a better life. Driven by the desire to ensure her mother no longer had to work in the hazardous factory environment, Nancy began creating content focused on fashion. She aimed to generate enough income to support her family and provide her mother with a more comfortable life. Her hard work eventually paid off, and she expressed immense satisfaction in being able to free her mother from factory work. Nancy poignantly stated, "Mujhe paisa nahi chahiye tha, mujhe mummy ko kaam se hatwana tha."
Nancy Tyagi, a 23-year-old woman from Baranwa village in Uttar Pradesh, initially moved to New Delhi in 2020 with aspirations of studying for the UPSC exams. However, the COVID-19 lockdown altered her path, allowing her to follow her true passion for fashion. Faced with financial difficulties, she started creating fashion pieces from scratch. Despite not achieving immediate success, Nancy remained committed, posting videos of her self-stitched outfits for 1.5 years.
