Pune Teen Porsche Accident: Juvenile Justice Board Remands 17-Year-Old To Observation Home After Cancelling His Bail- READ REPORTS
The social media has been buzzing with outcry since Sunday, when videos of a Porsche, being allegedly driven by a 17-year-old under the influence of alcohol and causing a car accident killing two motor-borne software engineers surfaced on the internet. The incident reportedly took place in Kalyani Nagar in Pune in the early hours of Sunday. For those who don’t know, the Juvenile Justice Board had granted the teenager a bail, after the accident on Sunday, under the conditions that he writes a 300-word essay on road accidents along with working with the Yerwada traffic police for 15 days.

Well, the entire incident left the netizens in disbelief as they criticised the system. Following this, on Wednesday, the Juvenile Justice Board cancelled the teenager’s bail and remanded him to an observation home till June 5. As per a recent report by the Free Press Journal, the police approached the Board again and sought a review of the order and permission to treat the accused as an adult, on the grounds that the crime was of a heinous nature.

The report further states that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the teenager, a son of an well-known real estate developer, under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 304 A (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by an act which endangers human life), 338 (causing grievous hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.

For those who don’t know, the 17-year-old guy’s father has already been arrested under the Juvenile Justice Act. He has been remanded in police custody for handing his teenage, underage son a car and exposing him to further danger. Further details on the matter are awaited.
