Prince William Pays A Moving Tribute After The Death Of Prince Philip: ‘My Grandfather Was An Extraordinary Man’

Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, passed away on Friday aged 99. He breathed his last at the Windsor Castle. The Buckingham Palace made the heartbreaking announcement of the demise of the Duke of Edinburgh, and shared a statement on social media that read, “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”
Now, Prince William has paid a moving tribute to his late grandfather Prince Philip. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared an image of their son Prince George along with his great-grandfather Prince Philip. Along with the picture, was a message from Prince William, paying his tribute to his grandfather Prince Philip. It read, “My grandfather’s century of life was defined by service – to his country and Commonwealth, to his wife and Queen, and to our family.” He wrote how lucky he was to have had his example to guide him, and his presence in Prince William’s adult life and through good times and the tough days.
He further wrote that he is grateful that his wife Kate had so many years to get to know Prince Philip, and the memories that his children have of their great grandfather. “I will never take for granted the special memories my children will always have of their great-grandpa coming to collect them in his carriage and seeing for themselves his infectious sense of adventure as well as his mischievous sense of humour!” he wrote.

He ended the message by writing, “My grandfather was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation. Catherine and I will continue to do what he would have wanted and will support The Queen in the years ahead.
