Porn Clip Played For 13 Seconds In A Weather Report ; Viewers Of Washington Based KREM TV Channel Raise Complaints
KREM, a CBS-affiliate news channel in Washington, aired an obscene pornographic clip during a weather forecast on Sunday, October 17th at 6 pm.

While meteorologist Michelle Boss was giving her first weather update, a clip appeared on a monitor showing what appeared to be a woman's backside. It aired for 13 seconds prior to the station switching to the weather map. Neither anchor Cody Proctor nor Boss commented on it. In contrast, Michelle Boss and co-anchor Cody Proctor were completely unaware of this and continued their report.

When KREM 2 realized their mistake, they issued a public apology in their 11pm show. "Those of us here at KREM 2 want to apologise for something that happened on our 6 pm newscast tonight," said the station. "An inappropriate video was aired in the first half of the show. We are working diligently to prevent this sort of thing from happening again," They added.

Currently, the Spokane Police Department's special victims unit is investigating the incident. According to them, KREM officials are cooperating with the investigation.

It was later determined that the channel had violated broadcasting rules. The Parents Television and Media Council (PTC) sent a letter to the channel calling for action.

"It is illegal to air indecent material between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. over the publicly-owned airwaves. As a licensee of the broadcast spectrum, a violation of the congressionally-mandated and FCC-enforced indecency law can warrant financial sanctions up to $325,000 per incident. The FCC has levied fines for similar violations as the one KREM appears to have committed," A letter from PTC President Tim Winter read.
