Memes have become a viral trend on social media and are the go-to coping mechanism for almost every situation for Netizens. Who doesn’t like a good laugh, after all, especially in serious times like these. Any bit of news, any important event inspires some really creative humorous content. Just a few days ago, Janta curfew was observed in India, and sharp at 5 pm, people came out to their windows, balconies to clang utensils and clap for the frontliners. That was a huge success and now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the citizens to light candles and diyas on April 5 at 9 pm for nine minutes.

PM Modi also urged people to not forms groups and stay indoors, maintain social distancing while doing this. The exercise is an attempt to challenge the darkness of coronavirus and to show the strength of Indian unity and light. Following the video message, hashtags such as #9Baje9Minutes, Diya Jalao, Diwali and more started trending on Twitter. As is the norm, memes about the same started pouring in, and some of them are lit! Memes ranged from some Diwali to Bigg boss references, and they have taken over Twitter.

While addressing the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “On the 5th of April, on Sunday, I want 9 minutes from all you, at 9 PM. Listen carefully, on the 5thof April, at 9 PM, turn off all the lights in your homes, stand at your doors or in your balconies, and light candles or diyas, torches or mobile flashlights for 9 minutes.”
