In order to stop the situation from getting escalated, the Indian government is doing everything in its capacity. While some were anticipating another task for the upcoming Sunday, many assumed it to be the official announcement of India’s lockdown extension, as not all the states have done the needful. In his speech, PM Modi revealed that the countrywide extension will now end on May 3rd, 2020. “India did not wait for the problem to escalate, rather, as soon as the problem appeared; we tried to stop it by taking swift decisions. I can't imagine what the situation would have been if such quick decisions were not taken,” said the PM.
He added, “Till 20th April, all districts, localities, states will be closely monitored, as to how strictly they are implementing norms. States which will not let hotspots increase, they could be allowed to let some important activities resume, but with certain conditions.”
