Petrol Bomb Thrown At Actor Ajith Fans Outside Cinema Hall, Screening Valimai In Coimbatore, One Injured-Report
In a shocking turn of events, a petrol bomb was reportedly thrown outside the theatre screening Ajith Kumar's movie Valimai in Coimbatore. As per reports, one person inflicted injuries when a motorcycle-borne gang hurled a petrol bomb at a crowd gathered outside a cinema hall on Thursday. Police officials reportedly suspect rivalry between fans of the actor to be the motive behind this attack. 

A report in Hindustan Times stated the incident occurred at around 4.30 am when Naveen Kumar was ‘erecting a flex board of the star in front of the theatre complex in Gandhipuram area. The two persons came on a bike and fled away throwing the petrol bomb at him. Scores of ardent fans of Ajith had gathered outside Archana theatre in Coimbatore to watch the first-day, first-show of Valimai. But they were suddenly attacked with a petrol bomb. 


Naveen got minor injuries in the explosion, which caused chaos and uproar in the area. Police reportedly suspect that rivalry between fans of the actor over erecting banners- as the motive behind this explosion. Meanwhile, in the wake of this crime, security has been beefed up in front of other theatres in the city. In Chennai, in another incident, fans had stolen curd mistakenly thinking it was milk. A video of people stealing dairy products from a vehicle has gone viral on social media.

An investigation is currently underway. Talking about the film, Valimai has been directed by H Vinoth and features actress Huma Qureshi, among others. The film, which got delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, was released worldwide yesterday, 24th February.
