OMG! Gujarat Couple Who Gave Up Rs 200 Crore To Become Monks Distribute Cash To Crowd From Truck - WATCH VIRAL VIDEO
In a striking display of their renunciation of worldly wealth, Gujarat businessman Bhavesh Bhandari and his wife embarked on a procession on Sunday, where they gave away their belongings from a moving truck. The couple, who have decided to take up a life of monkhood and donated their lifetime earnings of over ₹200 crore, held a grand event as they prepare to embrace an ascetic lifestyle.
The procession took place in the Sabarkantha district of Gujarat, with Bhandari and his wife riding on top of a decorated truck that resembled a chariot. Dressed in traditional attire, they were surrounded by their family as they traveled along a narrow road lined with onlookers. The couple was seen distributing clothes and showering cash onto the crowd below, prompting people to rush forward to collect the money. Bhavesh Bhandari had previously worked in the construction industry, managing projects in Sabarkantha and Ahmedabad. He and his wife have a son and a daughter, who embraced Diksha, a ceremony that marks a formal commitment to live a spiritually disciplined life, in 2022. The couple's decision to lead a life of simplicity and renunciation extends to their entire family, who will forgo modern comforts such as air conditioners, fans, beds, electronics, and other gadgets. This act of renunciation is part of a broader trend in Gujarat, where members of affluent families are choosing to adopt a monastic lifestyle. In 2018, a 12-year-old son of a diamond merchant in Surat joined the order of Jain monks, while in the previous year, a nine-year-old girl, the daughter of a wealthy diamond merchant, became a nun after a traditional Jain ritual in Surat.

These decisions reflect a commitment to spiritual pursuits over material wealth, demonstrating the deep roots of ascetic traditions in the region and the influence of religious and philosophical beliefs on the lives of these families. Bhavesh Bhandari and his wife's procession serves as a powerful example of the path they have chosen, marking a significant moment of transition for them and their family.
