According to authorities, the garage was engulfed in flames early on November 2, leaving the victims trapped inside. The blaze reportedly started after Aliya entered the garage, allegedly shouting threats before igniting the fire. Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with the fire spreading too quickly for rescue attempts.
Aliya has been charged with murder and arson and is being held without bail. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz stated that the victims died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, emphasizing the calculated and malicious nature of the act.
