Legendary Pakistani Singer Nayyara Noor Passes Away At Age of 71: PM Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif To Singer Ali Zafar Express Their Grief
Legendary Pakistani playback singer Nayyara Noor passes away at the age of 71 in Karachi. As per the reports in Dawn newspaper, she died due to unspecified illness on Saturday, August 20, 2022. In the span of her long career, she has sung some incredible songs in movies as well as for the nation. 

Noor, who was known as Bulbul-e-Pakistan has left a void in the hearts of her fans across the globe. Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deep grief over Noor’s death and paid his tribute on Twitter. He wrote in Urdu which read, “The death of famous singer Neera Noor is an irreparable loss to the music world. She was known for her singing voice and her singing voice. Be it a ghazal or a song, whatever he sang, he sang perfectly. The void created by his death will never be filled. May Allah grant the deceased a place in heaven.” 




Even singer Ali Zafar wrote, “Heart breaking. I remember our last meeting and discussion at her place. She had moved beyond the worldly desires onto a serene and spiritual space with so much wisdom. She was our nightingale. May her soul rest in peace. #NayyaraNoor”. 
Renowned Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Hafiz also offered his condolence on Twitter and wrote. “Saddened to learn about passing of legendary singer #NayyaraNoor sahiba. May Allah bless her highest rank in Jannah. Aameen”. 




For the unversed, celebrated singer Nayyara Noor was born 3 November 1950 in Guwahati, Assam, a state of India, and migrated to Pakistan with her family in the late 1950s. The melody queen started learning music at a very young age. She debuted with Radio Pakistan in 1968 and three years later got introduced at PTV. The ‘Is Parcham Ke Saaye’ singer has won several awards and accolades in her massive career. She was honored with the Nigar Award in 1973. She also received the Pride of Performance Award by the President of Pakistan in 2006. She is survived by her husband, Sheharyar Zaidi, and two sons, Ali and Jaafer.
