A few days back, Kamal Haasan courted controversy when he wrote a long letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In his letter, the actor-turned-politician said that the PM Modi’s vision failed. He also called his then planned 21 days lockdown implantation ‘ill-planned’. Kamal Haasan wrote that in his first letter, he wrote on March 23, he had urged the government to not lose sight of the plight of the unsung heroes of our society, the most downtrodden, the weak and the dependent.

This morning, Kamal Haasan launched a new song, Avirum Anbum, a peace anthem released amid the Coronavirus tension. During the virtual press conference, held on a digital platform, when he was asked about being critical of the government's efforts in fighting COVID-19, he said, “My criticism was that you should have acted, now we have come to a stage in this premises where there’s no time to be criticizing each other.”

He further added, “For a moment we all have to be considerable human being and we can go back to our squabbles latter. Right now, I think, we have to do the best and keep reminding them this will not be about criticizing the government or toppling it or keeping it there. This will be about giving them the right warnings at the right time. It's not about nitpick, it’s simply taking care of each other. Like a spot a fire, I must inform to the authority to put it down so it doesn’t spread through my forest.”

Meanwhile at the press conference, the legendary actor ever appreciated daughter and actress Shruti Haasan’s video making skills. He told us, “Some of them had their friends to shoot the song at home, some did it themselves, Shruti shot the video, herself and it was astounding.
