There’s nothing more astounding and mysterious than celestial bodies in space which might seem beyond our reach. But, the advanced technology has finally made it possible for us to snap or view these magnificent phenomenons through the the lens. The internet is currently abuzz with the passing of ‘Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF)’ - which is also known as the green comet - on Wednesday evening and could be seen with the naked eye.

Astronomers, and stargazers lined up to witness the grand astral projection orchestrated by our galaxy and many clicked breathtaking pictures of the comet. ALSO READ | HOW To Watch The RARE Green Comet In India, Which Comes Closest To Earth On February 1-DETAILS BELOW!

As per NASA, the comet paid our planet a visit after 50,000 years and it was indeed a rare sight for stargazers and astronomers alike, as people around the globe were able to witness this astronomical event.

It is also being reported that the comet’s 50,000-year-long orbit around the Sun makes it one of the most unique factors. According to the reports it was last seen by Neanderthals who roamed the planet, and modern humans were yet to evolve.

It was a one-in-a-million sight, literally! And astronomers estimate that the next possible sighting won’t be happening for another million of years.

For those who were occupied or lazy to go out to spot the comet, a few stargazers have managed to capture videos and images of the magnificent sight.

NASA’s Paul Chodas suggests that while plenty of comets have graced the sky over the past year, "this one seems probably a little bit bigger and therefore a little bit brighter and it’s coming a little bit closer to the Earth’s orbit".

The comet gets its iconic green colour due to its chemical composition which as per the reports is a result of a clash between sunlight and carbon-based molecules in the comet’s coma. (Comet’s coma refers to a cloud of gases that surrounds the nucleus of a comet.)
