FIR Filed Against Former Cricketer Yuvraj Singh For Passing Castiest Remarks On Indian Cricket Team Member Yuzvendra Chahal During Instagram Live
Yuvraj Singh has once again landed in a legal soup for his last year’s comment on colleague Yuzvendra Chahal. In June 2020, Yuvraj Singh became the talk of the town when he was at the receiving end of criticism and hatred. A video of Yuvi mocking cricketer Yuzi for making TikTok videos with his family had gone viral. However, netizens were not very pleased with the words he had used for Yuzi. But now in the latest update, an FIR has been filed against Yuvraj Singh.

According to a report in TOI, Haryana Police have filed a case against Yuvi over his alleged casteist remarks against Yuzvendra Chahal during the Insta live. Hansi Superintendent of Police, Nikita Gahlaut said, “An FIR has been filed against Yuvraj Singh based on a complaint by lawyer Rajat Kalsan at the Hansi Police Station.” To give a gist, an FIR has been lodged under IPC sections 153 (giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc.) and under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities), Act.

Earlier expressing his regret over his comment, Yuvraj had written in the sorry note, “This is to clarify that I have never believed in any kind of disparity, be it on the basis of caste, colour, creed or gender. I have given and continue to spend my life for the welfare of people. I believe in the dignity of life and respect each individual without exception. I understand that while I was having a conversation with my friends, I was misunderstood, which was unwarranted.”

He ended his note by saying, “However, as a responsible Indian I want to say that if I have unintentionally hurt anybody’s sentiments or feelings, I would like to express regret for the same. My love for India and all its people is eternal.” Soon after he issued his apology, Thappad director Anubhav Sinha wrote, “आजकल युवराज सिंह को अपना देशप्रेम सिद्ध करना पड़ता है। (Nowadays, Yuvraj Singh has to prove his patriotism.)” (ALSO READ: Yuvraj Singh Calls Yuzvendra Chahal 'Bhangi' For Dancing In TikTok Videos; Netizens Are ENRAGED, Ask Him To Apologise)
