Exploring Bollywood's ICONIC Malaysian Shooting Spots, From The Twin Towers To Other Hidden Gems- Read To Know More Below
The Petronas Twin Towers of Malaysia need no introduction for Bollywood buffs and travel enthusiasts. These beautiful Twin Towers have been featured several times in movies, making them one of the most sought-after locations for filmmakers worldwide. If we were to sit down and list all the films that have used the Twin Towers as a backdrop, the list would be endless. However, just to name a few well-known ones: “Don”, “Don 2”, “Kabali”, “One 2 Ka 4”, “Hungama”, and “Humraaz”.

The craze for Bollywood is equally strong in Malaysia as it is in India. This was evident during the filming of “Don”, when the team approached the authorities to shoot inside the Twin Towers. Upon learning that Shahrukh Khan was part of the team, permission was easily granted. Before that, many Hollywood production companies had approached the authorities for shooting permissions, but those requests were turned down. This makes “Don” the first foreign (non-Malaysian) film to be shot inside the Twin Towers. Such gestures are often extended to Bollywood by many countries, and Malaysia is one of them.

Malaysia is not just limited to the Twin Towers; it offers much more. Each city you visit in Malaysia has its own attractions and vibe. A unique Bollywood-based travel shows, Bollylands.com, has recently covered beautiful Malaysian cities like Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Melaka, and Genting Highlands. The show has a special format where they feature locations where Bollywood films were shot. They also cover nearby unexplored locations of each city, which are either newly introduced or have been overlooked by Bollywood filmmakers during shoots. This additional information about unexplored locations makes the show special, providing first-hand information useful for filmmakers and location scouts.

The show has been acknowledged by many Bollywood celebrities such as Farah Khan, Boman Irani, Anees Bazmee, Manoj Bajpayee, Sidharth Malhotra, and Sonu Sood. It has also been appreciated by various tourism boards, recognizing its potential to boost inbound tourism for their countries.
