Bangladesh Crisis: Sonam Kapoor Extends Heartfelt Support Amid Rising Death Tolls, Says 'Lets All Pray For Them'
Massive clashes have erupted across Bangladesh, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of people as citizens protest against the government. Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor has expressed her concern over the situation, describing it as "horrible." Sonam took to Instagram to share a post that highlighted the severity of the violence, noting that 66 people had died in a single day due to the protests. She condemned the violence and added a heartfelt plea, "Let's all pray for Bangladeshi people."

The protests in Bangladesh began with students demanding an end to the quota system for securing government jobs, which they viewed as unfair and discriminatory. The situation quickly escalated into chaos when protestors clashed with pro-government activists and the police. Amidst the turmoil, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country on Monday. Reports suggest that she planned to stop in India before heading to London. Following her departure, protestors stormed her official residence, looting the premises, lounging on the sofas, and even swimming in the pool.

In the wake of Hasina's resignation, Bangladesh Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman announced that an interim government would take over. Sheikh Hasina's special flight landed at an air base near Delhi, marking her escape from the escalating crisis. The 76-year-old leader was forced to step down after widespread protests against her government’s controversial quota system, which reserved more than half of all government jobs for certain groups, sparking outrage among the general populace.

Despite a curfew, hundreds of thousands of protestors took to the streets of Dhaka, defiantly marching towards the Prime Minister’s palace. The demonstrations culminated in the storming of the palace, where protestors vandalized the statue of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Sheikh Hasina’s father and a revered figure in Bangladesh's fight for independence.

The anarchy in Dhaka underscores the deep-seated frustrations and demands for change among the Bangladeshi people. Rising death tolls, riots remain a huge matter of concern.
