Arun Jaitley Passes Away: Former Finance Minister Breathed His Last At AIIMS Today
Former Finance Minister and BJP Leader, Arun Jaitley, no more.
Arun Jaitley breathed his last on Saturday, August 24 at AIIMS Hospital, Delhi. After a prolonged illness, the former Finance Minister and Bharatiya Janta Party leader left for his heavenly adobe. As per the statement issued by the hospital, he died at 12.07 pm. He had been admitted to the hospital on August 9 and since then, his situation was said to be critical. Several political leaders paid him a visit to the hospital.
Arun Jaitley held the position of Finance Minister from the year 2014 to 2019 under the Modi-led Government. He even briefly held the portfolio of finance in the year 2017. Post, Modi's win in the recent General Elections, Arun Jaitley took off to the United States to treat a form of cancer. He couldn't present the Union Budget this year. He was 66.

From President Ram Nath Kovind, Home Minister Amit Shah to several BJP leaders like Smriti Irani, LK Advani and others had visited him in the hospital. Smriti Irani took to Twitter to mourn his death and stated, "A stalwart who paid tribute to his simple beginnings by helping those with meagre means . Orator par excellence, legal luminary @arunjaitley ji served the Nation and sangathan with dedication and zeal. My tributes to him. Condolences to loved ones. Om Shanti."
