After Taali Bajao Thaali Bajao Exercise, THIS NASA Forward Is Going Viral In Desi Family Groups; Here’s Why It’s FAKE

Just yesterday, Janta Curfew was being observed by everyone across India, and at 5pm people came out to their balconies, windows to clap and clang utensils. Now, a certain Whatsapp forward claims that coronavirus has retreated in India thanks to the exercise, but how much truth is there to these messages?

After almost every major event that takes place in India, several memes, forwards and statistical messages surface as Whatsapp forwards in every desi family group. These messages claim certain things, but not many make sure to verify if there is any truth to the claims or not. If not an important event, even generally, falsely framed panic-inducing Whatsapp forwards about certain news start circulating and go viral on Whatsapp groups. Something similar happened after Janta Curfew and the ‘taali bajao, thaali bajao’ exercise that Indians participated in, at 5 pm on March 22, 2020.

It so happened, that after the exercise where people came out to their balconies, and windows to clap, clang utensils, ring bells, a message stated that, “NASA satellite videos LIVE telecast have shown that the coronavirus is retreating in India thanks to the people's efforts at 5 PM on 22nd March." This message further stated, “The cosmic level sound waves generated have been detected by NASA's SD13 wave detector and a recently made bio-satellite has shown COVID-19 strain diminishing and weakening." After being circulated on Whatsapp, people also shared it on Twitter. However, how much truth is there to this message?

Well, what the message states, is false. Firstly, the message mentions an ‘SD-13 Wave Detector’, owned by NASA, and this wave detector does not happen to be an equipment that NASA owns. There is no evidence of the same, and there also hasn’t been any confirmation from NASA, or any mention on its social media about the effect of clapping with respect to coronavirus. Furthermore, a virus is a microbe and it cannot be tracked by a satellite stationed in outer space.
