This confirmation came during a new promo for The Great Indian Kapil Show. In the promo for the upcoming episode featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, host Kapil Sharma announced that he would be hosting a special episode with renowned sports personalities Mary Kom, Sania Mirza, and Saina Nehwal.
The promo opened with Kapil introducing the three athletes and hinting at the humorous gags he had planned for them. One of the highlights included a moment where Mary Kom got confused between Sania and Saina, leading to playful teasing from Kapil. The comedian also joked about Mary Kom's marriage. Kapil then reminded Sania of a statement made by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who had previously expressed interest in playing her love interest if a biopic were made about her life. Sania humorously interrupted Kapil, saying, "Abhi mujhe pehle love interest dundna hai" (I have to find a love interest first). Her witty remark left Kapil and Archana Puran Singh in fits of laughter.
For context, in 2016, Shah Rukh Khan had launched Sania's autobiography, Ace Against Odds, and mentioned that he would be keen on producing a film based on the book and potentially starring in it. He had said at the launch event, "Whenever there is a movie made on Sania, I think it will be very inspiring and it will be fantastic. And I don’t know… ask her if she will let me play her love interest. But, I will produce it for sure,” as reported by NDTV.
Sania's candid comments about her love life come months after her ex-husband Shoaib Malik remarried. The Pakistani cricketer recently tied the knot with popular Pakistani actress Sana Javed, surprising many by sharing their wedding photos in January this year. Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik were married in Hyderabad in 2010, with their Walima ceremony held in Sialkot, Pakistan. The couple welcomed a son, Izhaan Mirza Malik, in 2018.
