Over the past few weeks, Kannada filmmaker and actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been making the headlines for his involvement in the horrific murder of his ardent fan Renuka Swamy. Various media reports state that the latter was kidnapped and killed by Darshan’s men for sending lewd messages to his rumoured partner Pavithra Gowda. Well, now the deceased’s autopsy report has revealed several gruesome and horrific details about his murder. 

As reported by the Free Press Journal, Swamy’s autopsy report stated that he died because of shock and haemorrhage, a result of multiple blunt injuries he sustained. Quoting a report by the news agency PTI, they stated that the viscera samples have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for further investigation. The media publication, quoting another report by India Today, mentioned that the photos taken of the deceased by the crime branch show black and blue marks on his back, arms, and chest. The post-mortem report of the 33-year-old pharmacy worker indicates that he suffered a ruptured testicle after he was kicked. The media publication adds that not only was one of his ears missing, but his mouth was mutilated and broken. Some parts of his body were reportedly “eaten by dogs.” A report by NDTV states that, according to the officials, Renuka Swamy was beaten with sticks, tied up, and then subjected to electric shocks. Free Press Journal, in their report, adds that one of the accused Raghavendra, who was a part of Darshan’s fan club in Chitradurga, brought Swamy to a shed in RR Nagar in Bengaluru under the pretext of meeting the filmmaker. However, he was allegedly tortured and killed. His remains were found near a storm-water drain next to an apartment in Sumanahalli on June 9. The report states that the investigation team has recovered lathi, a water bottle, and wooden logs from the crime scene. Blood stains and material evidence, including a DVR containing the CCTV footage, are in the team’s possession. 


According to the FPJ report, PTI’s report states that Darshan has confessed to having given Rs 30 lakh to another accused, Pradosh, for the disposal of Ranuka Swamy’s body and to ensure that his “name does not come out.” If various media reports are to be believed, the actor had paid a huge amount to a few of his fans to kidnap Renuka Swamy and trash him to death. Apparently, two of the four fans were paid Rs 5 lakh each, who also took the blame for the murder case. 

Darshan is currently lodged in jail along with his partner Pavithra Gowda after they were accused of murdering his ardent fan, Swamy for allegedly sending lewd messages to the actress and blaming her for the actor’s souring relationship with his wife. Apart from Darshan Thoogudeepa and Pavithra Gowda, 17 other people have been taken into police custody in connection with the case.
