Stating how her British passport save her, she wrote, “I was told if my passport was Indian or Pakistani I would have gone to jail. My British passport saved me. Mubarak met me when he came to me in London, for a healing. He asked me to marry him and I was in Dubai to get married and to set up my business there. Instead I get thrown into jail. I needed urgent medication which was unavailable in Dubai. But I was still not allowed to leave. Luckily I knew someone who flew to the UK and bought my medicine for me.”
Hayat went on to recall how the police told her that the man, whom she was about to marry, had been married 13 times with around 22 criminal cases against him. However, despite his crimes, the officials won’t be jailing him. She went on to talk about how Dubai is not crime-free and that locals often take advantage of foreigners as they are unaware of the strict laws.
“I will not get my money back and the £60'000 loss of expenses and business loss, but hoping I can stop him doing it to anyone else and help foreigners to be aware of the strict law there,” she concluded.
