Sidharth Sagar: I Pray My Parents Never Call Me. I Owe Them Nothing

Sidharth Sagar, who is known for his Selfie Mausi act, grabbed headlines a couple of months ago when he went missing. The comedian subsequently held a press conference where he narrated his traumatic experience in the asylum and finding comfort in a rehab. He also spoke about injustice at the hands of his parents.

Now, Sidharth is gearing up to return to the small screen and will do so with Sony TV’s Comedy Circus. SpotboyE.com spoke to the comedian about his ‘new’ life and here are the excerpts from the conversation:

When did you get this offer?
After I revealed everything to the media, I got a call from Optymistix saying that they are coming up with Comedy Circus and want me to be a part of it. I have been associated with them for 12 years and gave them a nod instantly. Also, when I learnt that Mubeen Saudagar is part of the show too, I was even more excited.

You and Mubeen will make us laugh together?
This time, it will be the three of us -- me, Mubeen and Karishma Sharma. I am happy with my partners.

How is this show different from the ones we have seen before?
It has different faces. This one does not have Krushna Abhishek, Sudesh Lehri or Bharti Singh. You will see me, Mubeen and host of other comedians such as Ketan Singh (Shankar Jai Kishan), Paritosh Tripathi and Gaurav Dubey among others trying to make you laugh.

Have you already started shooting?
No, the show will go on floors on June 17. Our rehearsals are on.

Do you feel you have made a wise choice by taking up this show for your comeback?
Definitely, what better show? I am known for making people laugh although I have not laughed since one-and-a-half year as I was juggling between the asylum and rehab. When things got back on track, I began missing the stage.

Where are you living now?
Currently, I am staying in Goregaon. I was discharged from the rehab a month-and-a-half ago. To tell you, I kept living with those in the rehab even after I recovered because they were so supportive. But when they saw that I have been getting offers and have to travel all the way from Panvel to the suburbs, they asked me to take discharge. In fact, they helped me find a house and settle down.

Have your parents tried to contact you?
No, they haven't and I will pray that they don't call. My life has started coming back on track and is better than before. Also, whatever I had in terms if money is with them, so I owe them nothing. I want to keep this phase behind me and focus on work.

Will your show replace Kapil Sharm's show?
They haven't discussed anything with us, yet.
