Saath Nibhaana Saathiya Actor Mohammad Nazim On His Marriage Plans: “By End Of This Year, I’ll Be Married”
We’ve got some good news for fans of Mohammad Nazim as the actor is planning to settle down in real life. He tried to keep his relationship under wraps for a long time but he has finally confessed that he will be getting married to his partner very soon. Nazim who is returning to TV with the show Bahu Begum on Colors will play the role of Asgar Khan. Recently, the actor spilled the beans on his new show, on playing a negative role in it, on being a part of Salman Khan's fiction show Gama Pehalwan, on his co-star Devoleena Bhattacharjee participating in Bigg Boss 13 and lastly but most importantly, his marriage plans. Read on:

After playing the positive role of Ahem for so many years, were you reluctant to turn negative on screen?
Definitely, I was hesitant to play a negative character initially as I have played the positive role of Ahem on my show Saath Nibhaana Saathiya for which I have not just received love from fans, but also won a lot of awards. So I thought, why should I do a negative character? But then, I explained to myself that an artiste doesn't have his/her limit. The important thing is to play a good role which is challenging and you have to do justice to it. Hence, I have no regrets on taking up a negative character now.

Your first negative role in Udaan came up with a controversy as Krrip Kapur Suri was immensely upset for being replaced overnight by you. Your thoughts?

I really don't know as to what do I say on this! Why do people feel that things have been taken away from them? Agar koi cheez tumhari hai toh woh tumhari hi rahegi. Whatever happens, it will eventually come to you. And if you run behind what was not meant to be yours, you will never get it. So all that I would say is respect what you have and if something is not for you, just forget it.

Tell us about your character of Asgar Khan on the show Bahu Begum?
For the first time, I’m doing a Muslim show. The audience will get to see me in different shades. Like, for instance, if I will talk to my on screen wife, it will be different. When I will speak to my son, I will be different and when I will speak to my servants that would be again different. I’m myself making a graph in my head to entertain the audience. Whenever I will come on screen they would feel ab kuch hone wala hai. With this show, I really want my fans that woh Ahem ko bhool kar Asgar Khan ko yaad rakhe.

Negative roles have been extremely popular in films. Any such role you’re taking inspiration from?
The best negative role for me would always be Shah Rukh Khan from Baazigar. Then, Akshay Kumar has also done negative roles. But my recent favourite is Ranveer Singh's character of Allaudin Khilji from Padmaavat. I am taking inspiration from that character; so my look, the beard and all will be inspired by his character who is very loud, but at the same time cunning and lovable too.

What is the status on your show Gama Pehalwan?
Salman Khan will be the right person to answer that. I am just hoping it goes on floors soon. Whenever it will start, I really want to be a part of it. I am also not in the position to tell you what the exact status of the show is.

You’re playing an elderly role (Uncle) at such a young age. Are you afraid of getting typecast?
These people called me saying ‘Nazim, we have a role for you in our upcoming show Bahu Begum. And you have to play a chacha. Before I could say no to them, the second line they said was chacha doesn't mean we will show you as a 45-50 year old. We will show you exactly the way you are. We will not even grey your hair. Let audience assume what is your age. You just think about the character which is interesting and not the age bar.’ And I was convinced. It's really not a big deal to play an aged character at a young age. The best example I can give you to explain this is the film, Paa wherein Abhishek Bachchan played father of Amitabh Bachchan. So it's just a play. My fans already know what’s my age and how I look in real life, so I don't feel it should be my concern at all.

Fans of Saath Nibhaana Saathiya still demand to see their Gopi-Ahem together. What you have to say to them?
I know our fans still want to see us together and they haven't forgotten Gopi-Ahem’s chemistry. But as an artist I have to grow. I just can't stick to one thing. I believe they will love me in this character too. Just like, we still love Prem from Maine Pyaar Kiya and also Chulbul Pandey from Dabangg. People love Ranveer Singh but they equally loved Allaudin Khilji. Ranbir Kapoor is most loved for Sanju which was equally praised. And I also want people to remember me as Mohammad Nazim and not my character name.

We heard that your Gopi (Devoleena Bhattacharjee) is participating in Bigg Boss 13 this year.
Really, if she is participating, then it will be extremely interesting to watch her. She is very entertaining in real life too. So I am sure that if she gets locked inside, it will give a lot of entertainment to viewers. I just hope and pray that if she participates, she come back as a winner.

What you want to say on the recent controversy surrounding Devoleena?
Nothing. No comments

Lastly, any plans of getting married?
Well, everyone knows that I am not single. But yes I am planning to tie the knot very soon. If all goes well, by end of this year or next year I will be a married person. It will be a love marriage but yes my whole family is involved and they are happy about it. It will be a grand affair, after all it's only once that we get married (laughs).
