Krushna Abhishek: Felt Bad That A Dog Made It On The Entertainment Poster But Not Me
TV star Krushna Abhishek on his thrills, frustrations, Bharti Singh, Salman Khan and his lovely twins. Here is an EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with him...
Krushna Abhishek does not hold himself back when it comes to airing his opinions. His outspokenness may have got him into trouble with even his wife Kashmera Shah, who sounded quite exasperated when we spoke to her last time over Krushna's comment to SpotboyE.com that "she should apologise to Govinda's wife, Sunita".
How did Teri Bhabhi Hai Pagle happen to you?
It's a long story. I was in America for my show when the makers texted me about the film and told me about its subject. And then, after two months, I got to know that the film's director Vinod Tiwari is a friend of my Mama (Govinda), and often comes to meet him at his bungalow. There had been some confusion. I learnt that they wanted to sign him instead of me.
Oh! And?
Govinda said 'yes' to them, but later said that he had date problems and could do the film only after 8 months. The makers wanted to start soonest and they came back to me.
Did you agree immediately? Did it bother you that they had gone to Govinda behind your back?
I had liked the concept. It's a situational comedy. It's a film inside a film, where everyone is chasing the heroine, Nazia. She plays Rajniesh Duggall's girlfriend but he is keeping it as a secret. It's a well written film, the dialogues are damn interesting. So yeah, I went for it almost immediately when they returned to me.
What is your preference now- TV or Bollywood?
TV gives you lots of money, films don't. Film producers even bargain (laughs).
But you see, the truth is that every actor working on TV platform wants to do films. After they enter films, TV becomes their second choice. I am saying this for those who are acting in serial dramas. But with comedians like Bharti Singh, Kapil Sharma and myself, it's a slightly different scenario. So yeah, let's see.
But I would still say that yes, we all craze to see ourselves on 70 mm.
I have done popular films like Bol Bachchan, Entertainment, Kya Cool Hain Hum - but finally I have got a poster role, so I am very happy.
You feel bad that you were not a part of the posters in the above mentioned films?
(Laughs) Who won't? Naa main Bol Bachchan ke poster pe tha, aur naa hi main Entertainment ke poster pe tha. I felt really bad when the dog of the film was out on the poster, but not me.
You feel you're taking a step ahead with Teri Bhabhi Hai Pagle?
Of course, I started as a stand-up comedian and now I have got a lead role.
What is the status of your show, which is being planned with Bharti Singh?
On Independence Day, we will come on your screens and this time it will be a very big and good show. We can't be excused this time.
We worked a lot on Drama Company, though it didn't work out as per expectations. But we still managed to sustain it for 8 long months. But this time, we are getting something big in terms of content and not just stage. Stage bada lagane se kuch nahi hota. People have watched us so much now, that every new assignment is a big challenge for us.
We heard Salman Khan is producing the show you will do with Bharti?
Aapke pas toh saari news hain. Yes, we met him when he was shooting for the promo shoot of 10 Ka Dum. We are in talks, he is also very positive towards it. He likes me and Bharti a lot- and we also love him. We have approached his production company to sponsor us. We are talking to Deepak Dhar and Nadeem Bhai from his team.
Your wife Kashmera (Shah) told us that Salman encouraged you both to become parents (Kashmera and Krushna became parents to twins about a year ago)?
Yes, he was the one who gave us confidence to go in for surrogacy. He is a superstar and not just our family member. But if you talk to him, he makes you feel like family. I feel extremely close to him. People will feel that I am buttering him by saying this, but I don't say such things for any other star. Salman is actually a perfect example of Being Human- but gets very embarrassed if someone tells this to him.
Has he come to see your kids?
Not yet. He has seen their photographs and videos. I am going to take them to him, soon.
Are you getting time to spend with them?
They have started to hold my trousers when I leave. Pakad lete hain, godh mein aane ke liye rote hain. Well, I am not getting time also to spend with them currently as I have signed 4-5 films. I shall speak about them at a later date.
My kids have been lucky for me. Soon after they were born, I signed The Drama Company. And it was one of my biggest shows till date.
Kapil is currently missing on-screen. Don't you think it is the right time for you to come up with your show, soon?
What if we two come together? (laughs). Dhamaka ho jaayega, agar dono saath aa jaaye. I really want to work with Kapil and I keep saying this in almost all my interviews. There have been ups and downs in his life, but I think he will be back.
He has a habit of putting his name on the show's title...
In that case, we will figure out something. Kuch khichdi pakani padegi (laughs).
We always see you doing comedy. Don't you want to try your hand at some serious roles?
No one offers me a serious role. Woh kehte hain na- Don't reinvent the wheel. But in my case, I am lucky that age is by my side. Aisa nahi hai ki meri umar nikalte jaa rahi hai.
I am up for any role. But yeah, I love watching suspense thrillers every night before going to bed. So, I would be thrilled if I get a suspense film to do, soon.
