Recently, TV czarina Ekta Kapoor took to Instagram to make an announcement that Harleen Sethi and Vikrant Massey will not be part of Broken But Beautiful's upcoming season. In fact, the famous producer had asked for the suggestions as to who she should cast in the new season.
Meanwhile, we got talking Harleen Sethi, who grabbed a lot of attention and recieved accolades for her character, Sameera. Excerpts from our conversaiton:
Where you surprised with the recent announcement about Boken But Beautiful?
I already knew about the development. But what surprised me was the day it was announced. I didn't know Ekta will be making the announcement on that particular day.
How did it feel?
The character has been so close to my heart that I just got extremely emotional.
Both the seasons were so successful, did you expect this kind of love when the show was offered to you?
When I got locked for the series and read the first episode, I was completely blown away by the writing. I was extremely confident about it and the characters. But definitely, I was not confident about how would I play the part as it was a difficult character to play. Also, a lot of people at that time had told me that I don't have a very vulnerable face. So, this series was a chance for me to prove myself and others that as an actor it is about versatility. It's not about how you look. It was about getting a chance to portray everything. So, I took it up as a challenge and I wanted to see if I would be able to do it.
Would you have loved to be a part of Season 3 as well?
Absolutely! But as Ekta Kapoor said, it's not a serial. And I think it's a great ending for both the characters. A beautiful culmination that will leave a lovely taste in people's mouth. Otherwise if stories get stretched then people start losing interest and whatever love they have for the characters, that dies eventually. It's a fantastic ending and a great call by the producers.
How much will you miss playing Sameera on screen?
I am genuinely going to miss it a lot as my character has been very special to me. Also, the whole team had become like one big family after doing two seasons together. But as we say, when one door gets closed, other open. So, I am expecting a lot of good roles my way.
What kind of roles are you lookin at, now?
I honestly want to be a part of good content and beautiful stories. I would love to play characters which eventually give out a message to the society and can inspire people.
Is Ekta Kapoor considering you for any other project?
Yes, I am already in discussion with Ekta for another project but it's too early to talk about it. I want the announcement to happen from their side. All I want to say is something interesting is in the pipeline for sure. And I am very excited about it.
Ekta has also asked fans to give her names of actors they want to see in the next season. Any names you would like to suggest?
Taking names is difficult because casting depends on the story and I don't know what is it for Season 3. But I have complete trust in my producers- Ekta and Sarita- they have a good eye for casting and a clear vision. I am sure they will do justice to it.
Before we wrap-up, any memorable scenes from both seasons?
There are so many that I don't know which one to talk about but yes, the wedding scene in the last season where I am walking in a bridal look on rose petals with music in the background- well, it gave me feel of a Karan Johar movie (laughs). It was larger than life and I remember when we were shooting that scene in Madh Island, the sun was setting, making the entire ambience so dreamy.
