Week 42 (between October 14 - October 20) threw up some unexpected results in the ratings race. To begin with, Colors’s latest show Bigg Boss 10, which premiered on October 16, made its way into the top 10. Yes, that’s right. So who is leading the pack, you ask? Colors’s show Naagin 2 continued its reign and clinched the top spot, yet again. Ekta Kapoor never fails to weave magic, especially when her shows are in their early stages. Isn’t it?

However, let’s get to the bigger news here. With the success of Naagin 2, Raj Nayak led Colors has managed to unseat Star Plus and is now the king of Hindi GECs. And the crown has come to the channel after a gap of 18 long weeks. Kudos to the team!

On the downside, its comedy show Comedy Nights Bachao Taaza fails to pick up. In week 42, where Salman Khan came on the sets of the show to promote Bigg Boss 10, its viewership (in thousands) stood at 27,60,000. That’s pretty low for a well-known show of any genre.

Like we told you this morning, it’s high time the channel calls for an urgent meeting with its creative heads (Comedy Nights Bachao Taaza Goes Quickly Stale, Colors Needs Nayi Soch, Oct 27).

Further, Colors show Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki stayed put at number 2 in week 42 (Boy, Colors is on a roll). The romantic track between Harman (Vivian DSena) and Saumya (Rubina Dilaik) is working wonders for the show.

Star Plus’s Yeh Hai Mohabbatein
continued to perform better and was propelled to number 3 in week 42. For those who don’t remember, the show was at number 5 in week 41 (October 7- October 13). This could be credited to the drama created by Aliya’s grandmother (Kiran Bhargava), who separated the two youngsters – Aliya (Krishna Mukherjee) and Aditya (Abhishek Verma).

Despite moving at a snail’s pace, Zee TV show, Kumkum Bhagya performed surprisingly well in week 42. It moved up 5 notches and acquired the 4th position. Reason? Aaliya’s (Shikha Singh) complex plan involving Pragya’s (Sriti Jha) death and get Tanu (Leena Jumani) and Abhi (Shabbir Ahluwalia) married.

P.S- Zee TV’s Brahmarakshas showed a gradual dip in ratings. After a great performance in week 40, it slipped to no 8 in week 41 and is now out of the top 10. Is the audience not impressed with Kishwer Merchant as Brahmarakshas?
