With the ongoing Coronavirus scare, many shows are facing monetary problems, even the actors are affected by this. However, TV producer Rajan Shahi who is currently producing four shows – Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, a spin-off Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke, Anupamaa and Marathi show, Aai Kuthe Kay Karte is also facing monetary issues despite the shows doing well. On the other hand, Shahi's other shows Beyhadh 2 and Nazar have come to an end. According to the producer, the heavy rent is currently a huge burden for them as they had no income in the last four months. Having said that, the producer requested the Chief Minister to waive off the rent to Film City studios.
While speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Rajan talked about facing financial problems due to lockdown, “It will take more than a year for us to get back on our feet with such huge standing costs and no income in the last four months. Under IFTPC (Indian Film and TV Producers Council) and Producer’s Guild, we have requested the Chief Minister (Uddhav Thackeray) to waive off the rent to Film City studios which houses most of our sets. That will take a huge burden off our shoulders.” Talking about Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai's Corona track going viral, Rajan asserted, “It proves that TV shows have the biggest impact on the audiences.”
He even spoke about the sanitisation on the sets, “Our endeavour is to follow the government’s SOPs and even go beyond, like sanitising the set thrice a day, have a health inspector in attendance, organise individual makeup kits and healthy food arrangements. We also have different immunity tests every week."
