World Suicide Prevention Day is observed on September 10.  An annual event, it is celebrated to create more awareness about the subject and also share measures that can be used to prevent it. With the number of suicide cases increasing every year, more awareness about mental health is required.

Actress Jasmin Bhasin shares her thoughts on the same with us. The actress, who was last seen in Ekta Kapoor's Naagin 4 and rumoured to be participating in Bigg Boss 14 this year, threw some light on the sensitive topic. Talking to us exclusively Jasmin said, "We ignore it the most, but mental health is way too important than we think. Nobody realises that for a person to be healthy, if physical health is important, so is mental health. People don't talk about it, it's a very hush-hush kind of topic still. We need to create more awareness about it to make it a normal conversation. There is no timeline for depression. It can happen with anyone and also we need to realise that these thoughts kind of build up. There is a difference between feeling low and feeling depressed, I guess first people need to understand that. It's very important for others to understand you, because it's a feeling you may not be able to explain easily. So, you need someone to support you and take care of you." Jasmin also added, "In high-pressure jobs, I think people need to loosen up sometimes, go out with friends, surround themselves with good, happy people who make you forget about your pain. Under no circumstance should you make yourself feel that you are not enough, you may not be important for one person, or one job, or anything, but you need to realise there are so many others who love you and want you. Never let this thought of taking away your life come in your mind ever. Think good, positive thoughts, because life as it is very short, and you can't let a thought or a feeling push you to the edge."
