Vivek: Divyanka is sincere; she had only one relationship before me
Vivek Dahiya, who plays ACP Abhishek Singh in television show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, may be more popular as small-screen biggie Divyanka Tripathi’s fiance, but it’s an identity he is extremely comfortable with. No male-chauvinistic thinking for this London-returned corporate-guy-turned-actor.

“To be honest, the thought did occur to me, but I dealt with it in the most logical way. If I’d been in this industry for as long as her, maybe I would have been ahead.  Also, having her as a life partner is a blessing -- she can guide me to achieve my goals.  We had a heart-to-heart talk and I made it clear that I have no issues with her being in a better position,” he explains.

Vivek says he has no issues about Divyanka’s past relationship with television actor Ssharad  Malhotra. “It is but natural at our age to have been involved with someone; I have also had my share of link-ups. Also, the fact that she had just one long-term relationship proves her  extremely loyal and  sincere nature. I respect her, because she tried her best to make it work.”

Ask Vivek how their courtship began and he blushes. “A common friend asked me to meet Divyanka, as he was sure that I was the right kind of guy for her. I was nervous, because I had never met a girl for marriage before. But we soon hit it off and got our folks on board.  At first, my family was a bit worried. Their main question was, ‘Is she  really as sweet and soft-spoken as in the show?’ When they finally met her, they agreed that she is too good to be true,” he recalls.

What does he love best about Divyanka? “She knows how to balance work and personal life. Despite working thirty days  a month, she still makes it a point to  meet me everyday. I sometimes fear she is overexerting herself, but she feels it is important to nurture a budding  relationship,” he signs off.

The couple had got engaged in Chandigarh last month
