Uttaran Re-Run: Aayush Shah On Playing A Drug Addict At 13 In The Rashami Desai- Tina Datta Starrer- EXCLUSIVE
Aayush Shah played the role of a drug addict at the age of 13 in Uttaran. As the show is being currently re-telecast, we got in touch with the actor to know about his experience of portraying the role
Actor Aayush Shah, who made his film debut with My Friend Ganesha 2 in 2007 as a negative lead, got an opportunity to be a part of a TV show, Uttaran. Aayush played an important and a unique role in the show post the leap where Tina Dutta and Rashami Desai entered. At present, Uttaran is re-running on Colors TV in India and Turkey as well.
We got in touch with Aayush to know more about his experience of working in the show and the actor recalled his old days when he played a drug addict at a very young age.
Aayush revealed, "In 2009, the show was a massive success and I was a mere 13-year-old, when I got this opportunity to be a part show and I got excited as I had been following the show at that time.
To be honest, when I was called for the look test of the show, I thought it would be some normal character. But when the creative narrated the character to me is when I thought that I was getting a chance to play an unusual character which will help so many to know about the consequences of being a drug addict. Luckily I had my parents with me who helped me to understand what the character meant and how this could help others to educate on such a topic like ‘Drugs’. The show already had a huge fan following which made me more confident in playing this character of Paras."
He added, "On the sets, I used to get to know that people were sharing many comments on Facebook for my character- comments telling Paras how he can get himself away from drugs or what he should do next. I was a kid and was unaware of the world of social media but through word of mouth, I got to know that it was helping kids and parents to know what ‘drugs’ could do to normal living. The show gave me a lot of love and appreciation from the audience."
Aayush also added, "I was in school at that time and knew about drugs but not in-depth. My parents helped me a lot to know how this character can help me personally as well by not getting into the world of delusions which one gets from alcohol or drugs but rather to deal with problems in real life. On the set as well Tina Dutta who played Iccha and Rohit Khuranna who played Vansh gave me reasons for what one can get into and how one should seek help to get out of this. The character ended in the show due to the death but through social media, the creative had received many messages to get back Paras, as a character and how they loved the entire sequence. I am thankful to be a part of such a progressive show of that time which gave me so many takeaways as a growing adult."
