One of the most popular television shows on Indian television, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been entertaining the audiences for more than a decade now. Over the past few months, the show has been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons. With audiences claiming that the show has become monotonous and uninteresting and their former actresses alleging producer Asit Kumarr Modi of sexual and mental harassment, the show has been receiving a lot of bad publicity.
In the midst of it all, the makers of the show recently dropped a hint of Dayaben’s return during the latest episode. Yes, you read that right! In the latest episode of the show it was seen that Jethalal tricks Daya’s younger brother Sunderlal into coming to the Gokuldham Society. The eager husband enquires about his wife’s well being and asks him when she will be returning to Mumbai from Ahmedabad. Understanding how much people love Dayaben, Sunder tells everyone that she will be returning to Mumbai during Navratri or Diwali this year. ALSO READ: WHAT! It is safe to say that this declaration has left the fans excited. It will be interesting to see if Disha Vakani, who originally essayed the role of Dayaben, will be making her much-awaited return or have the makers replaced her with someone else. For the unversed, after getting married, Disha had gone on a maternity break in 2017. 6 years later fans are still eagerly waiting for her small-screen comeback. In an earlier interview, producer Modi has shed light on Disha’s return to the show. Revealing that they had started looking for a new Dayaben, he had said, “Everyone knows the way Disha Vakani did it. Even today, she is missed. It is not easy to find a new person for the role. This does not mean I am afraid. I am not afraid but I am looking for perfection. It is impossible to take Disha’s place. Her performance was great but I am finding somebody who can impress everyone with her style. It takes time but we will have Dayaben back soon.”
Talking about the show, over the years a lot of actors have been replaced and re-casted. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is currently the longest running comedy show on Indian television.
