Sumona Chakravarti On Getting Late Recognition In The Industry: ‘There Used To Be A Stereotype, Didn’t Wanna See Television Actors In Films’
Actress Sumona Chakravarti became a household name after she portrayed the role of Natasha Kapoor in Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar starrer Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. having made her debut at the age of 11, in Aamir Khan-Manisha Koirala starrer Mann, she gained further recognition due to her constant appearances on The Kapil Sharma Show. Currently, participating in Rohit Shetty’s adventure-based reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi season 14, she opened up about getting her due recognition from the industry a little later.

Despite making a name for herself in the Hindi television industry, she went on to also star in blockbuster films like Barfi! And Kick. However, despite having done an arrey of good work, the recognition she should have received took a back seat. Acknowledging the same, Sumona expressed that while she received a lot of love from her fans, she felt like she could have done more when it came to recognition from the industry. The 36-year-old actress added that even the industry is now opening up due to OTT platforms. She added, “OTT is one platform that people haven’t seen me on and they will see me on it very soon.” She continued explaining that earlier there used to be stereotypes about not wanting to see television actors on the big screen in films. Talking about the same during an interview with India.com, Charkravarti said, “I think we’re also opening up because there used to be a bit of a mindset and stereotype thing, you know television actors, you know, didn’t wanna see them in films, we would get boxed in. But I think these new digital age platforms have opened up those doors, I would say. So, it’s become a lot more welcoming and I think it’s a matter that one project where one sees me on OTT or wherever and I think it’ll be flooded.”


Talking about Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, the reality show is currently airing on television. it has celebrities like Asim Riaz, Shalin Bhanot, Shilpa Shinde, Abhishek Kumar, Krishna Shroff, Gashmeer Mahajni, Karanveer Sharma, and Aditi Sharma among many others as participants. The stunt-based reality show is being hosted by Rohit Shetty.
