Sony's Kapil Sharma show compels Colors to extend Naagin

Popular TV show Naagin was supposed to end in May.  Even the climax, in which the main protagonists Rithik (Arjun Bijlani) and Shivanya (Mouni Roy) get killed, was shot about a month ago (Mouni and Arjun to die in Naagin?, April 16th)

Now, here comes a mega twist. The broadcasters of Naagin, Colors, have decided to extend the show by at least a month.

Interestingly, the announcement has taken even the cast and crew by surprise. It has also got everybody on their toes, once again. With the climax already shot, we hear, the show's writers are busy creating new tracks to fill in the gap and keep the show going for another month.

Adaa Khan, who plays a pivotal role in the show, tells SpotboyE, “The show has suddenly got an extension and so, hum bus shoot kiye jaa rahe hain.”

But why this sudden new lease of life for Naagin? Buzz is, Sony’s The Kapil Sharma Show has a lot to do with it.

Says a source, “Colors does not want to lose Naagin’s weekend TRP bonanza. Though the two shows don’t fall in the same time slot (while the Sony show is aired in the
9-10 pm slot, Naagin is telecast from 8 to 9 pm), Naagin plays a big role in Colors’ weekend ratings."

The first episode of Kapil’s show (on April 23) bagged 3 points on the ratings chart. It is to be noted that Naagin garnered 4.8 points in the same week.

Goes without saying that the Mona Singh starrer show Kavach which was supposed to replace Naagin will have to wait.
