Sharad Malhotra On Naagin 5: 'I Was Scared To Know That EKta Ma'am Wants Me To Play A Negative Character'- EXCLUSIVE
Actor Sharad Malhotra is known as the quintessential good boy of the small screen. His characters have been loved and admired by many as he comes across as the ideal man anyone would want to be with. However, his fans were in for an interesting surprise when he took the role of a lead antagonist in the popular show Naagin 5!

Sharad as Veer in the show plays an out and out negative character, a first for him and his fans. Donning a new character did have its own challenges and the actor was also apprehensive about it. Talking to us exclusively, Sharad said, “I think I was very apprehensive about it as I have always played a positive lead in all my shows. When I got to know that Ekta (Kapoor) ma’am wants me to play the negative lead, I was a little scared. I wasn’t worried about her vision but if I could do it or not. I discussed this prospect, and everyone told me that this is something I had never done in the past and something people had not seen me do."  Also read: Naagin 5: Sharad Malhotra's Character Details REVEALED; Find Out All About His Role In Hina Khan-Surbhi Chandna Starrer

The actor recalls the night the first episode got aired and said, “ I did not want to watch the first episode and thought that I would be trolled. I think Ganpati preparations were going on at that time and late in the night when I finally saw it and the kind of response I was getting, I welled up a little. This kind of love, adulation and the frenzy I have seen after a long time and I am grateful for that.”

Besides the fact that he is playing a negative role for the first time, Sharad, who has otherwise always had a clean, chocolate boy look, is wearing a beard for the first time. “To be honest, I really wanted to keep a beard. I had not planned anything and thought whatever work comes I will try and sport a beard. Interestingly, I got the antagonist role and people really liked this look. I wore contact lense, and lost 10kgs for it. Thankfully, people liked it and I got so many messages that people fell in love with a negative role,” concluded the actor.
