Shagun Pandey On Deleting His TikTok Account: 'I Don't Support It But Banning The App Is Not The Solution'- EXCLUSIVE
Amidst of this whole YouTube v/s Tik Tok controversy, there are many who have deleted their accounts from the TikTok. TV actor Shagun Pandey, who has been a part of shows like Tujhse Hai Raabta, Shaadi Ke Siyape, has also deleted his account and updated the same on his Instagram story. We spoke to him exclusively and surprisingly he had a different reason to say goodbye to the App.

Talking to us exclusively, Shagun said, "I have not left TikTok due to this whole YouTube vs TikTok controversy. I am not supporting it either as many people are assuming that. For me, they are just mere platforms and it's us who misuse it. Like a platform can't be blamed and demanded to get deleted just because a few people have made videos which is provoking a wrong thing. It's not that YouTube doesn't have such content. People use abusive languages, roast others on YouTube, which is again not acceptable. And the ones who want it banned because it belongs to China, surprise me the most because there are phones which are assembled in that country and are being used by us. They aren't throwing those phones out."

When asked what provoked him to delete his account from the platform, Shagun said, "I had not used use my TikTok account for the longest time. If you would have seen my account, I wasn't very active on it though I had some 400k followers on it. But that platform was not getting me any money. Like the day Instagram will stop getting me work, as in brand promotions and stuff, I may delete that also. I am not very attached to technology especially social media."

Interestingly, Shagun feels rather than playing the blame game between YouTube and TikTok, one should look at the brighter side of both the platforms as its giving a medium for common people to entertain others. There are families and young kids who are using them to generate interesting and fun content. At times, I also see people giving out social messages which is really important for the society. YouTube gives employment to many and same is the case with TikTok- there are teenagers who have 20-30 million followers and they are so famous and getting so much of work that they are at the position of sponsoring their own music videos. They are watching movies sincerely so that they can pick up good lines and make videos out of it. So, it is boosting their creativity also." Shagun also advised on a way out of this problem. "What should be stopped is promoting content which is harmful. The subjects chosen by people have to be good and should not promote any kind of violence. I believe there are many bigger and more important issues right now which should be taken care of," concluded Shagun.
