Pavitra Rishta 2: Ankita Lokhande Recalls Her First Audition; Says She Was Excited And Nervous At The Same Time -EXCLUSIVE

Ankita Lokhande, who became a household name after playing the character of Archana in her very first show Pavitra Rishta, will reprise that in the digital sequel of the show, Pavitra Rishta 2. The actress in an exclusive chat with SpotboyE.com recalled her audition for the Ekta Kapoor-led serial and how she was not confident about it.

Ankita said, "I was called for the audition and they told me to wear a saree and come. And I told them 'no way I am wearing a saree' - because at the back of my mind, I always felt that I cannot be a Balaji heroine ever in my life. I always felt I am not a heroine material. I could be a vamp. While briefing about the show, they said a show named Pavitra Rishta is on the anvil and there is a Marathi girl character. My audition is also there on YouTube. That was my first audition. And when I went for the auditions I had gone with a twisted choti and a bindi on my forehead which I used to do in real life. My dadaji used to tell me now that you are a grown up, you should put on a bindi as in our Marathi culture. And I also used to like putting that on since my childhood. I was finalised for that show in five days. Usually at Balaji, it doesn't happen that way as they take a very long time to finalise their lead. I had heard that Ekta ma'am gets involved in casting and sees everything. I was the first one to get finalised in five days." She added, "I was very excited and nervous at the same time. I had been constantly calling the creative and asking pakka final hogai hoon na. Kyunki mujhe lag raha tha main thode hi na ho sakti hoon Balaji ki heroine. The character was very different from what I am in real life. Not a quiet person. So my mother was equally nervous - if I would be able to do it or not. But I pulled it off. The first two months I didn't have to say much and by the time I had to, I had understood Archana very well."
