OUCH: Hot Lovemaking Scenes Between Barkha Bisht-Viraf Patel Chopped From TV Show Naamkaran

Kya se Kya ho gaya...must be the lingering thought on Mahesh Bhatt’s mind right now! But he is happy!

Without beating around the bush, let’s get straight to the business.

Mahesh Bhatt’s latest Television show Naamkaran which airs on Star Plus has undergone some major changes- not to forget that the serial’s story is based on Bhatt’s film Zakhm(1990).

Naamkaran initially showcased some hot scenes between Barkha and Viraf. Arijit Singh had sung a special rendition- Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo for the show. Hot and steamy scenes were used during the show to sparkle the chemistry between Barkha and Viraf. However, this didn’t go down well with the channel-Star Plus. The general reviews which they received after the episode picturised on Arijit Singh’s number were-‘theirs being a family channel should not show such steamy scenes’.

When contacted, Mahesh Bhatt confirmed and said, “Avni (the child) who is the central character of the show made inroads into the hearts of the viewers instantly. Her wounded origin made the audience empathise with her. The romance between Barkha who has a 10 year old child with Viraf did not grab the viewers. Therefore, we bowed down gracefully to the needs of the viewers and made this mid course correction. This mid course correction made a significant difference to the show. The TRP's went up. Now the narrative is Avni specific.”

The child artiste, Arsheen Naamdar, who is playing Avni’s character, is getting lot of accolades for her acting and character in the show, which supposedly is making Barkha and Viraf feel left out.

When this change in the storyline was conveyed to the makers of Naamkaran, they were in a big fix by now! Why you ask? Well, that’s another interesting story.

So in order to bank episodes for the show (which is general practice in the Television industry) the makers had already shot 20 episodes based purely on hot and steamy love-making scenes between Barkha Bisht at Viraf Patel. The unit had also shot in Kashmir’s picturesque locations to add more beauty and romance.

But after the channel’s new directives of showing no steamy scenes on the show, the makers had to chop the entire love-making track between the leads of the show. This track was spread over 20 episodes. Some of the scenes are said to be the boldest ever shot for the small screen.

Mahesh Bhatt did not specify the number of episodes but accepted that a big chunk was omitted. He said, “Yes a sizeable number of episodes which were written have been crunched. But that was for the health of the show. We have a determined team which responded to the challenge bravely. Namkaran is on the right trajectory now,”

SpotboyE.com has also learnt that Barkha was overheard cribbing on-the-sets about this omission. She felt that the love-making episodes should find a way in the show, as they had really put in a lot of efforts in it. After all shooting intimate bed scenes is not very easy! However she was told that how can they incorporate a lovemaking scene now when she is 4-months pregnant in the show? FYI Barkha, sex is best avoided in the second trimester of one’s pregnancy!

As of now, the track of the show has changed and it is all the way focused on the little child, Avni. Mahesh Bhatt is seen paying special visits on-the-sets of Naamkaran whenever important plot points are being shot.
