NACH BALIYE 9: Urvashi Dholakia Opts Out Of One Stage For Another!- EXCLUSIVE
Urvashi Dholakia's comeback to television with Nach Baliye 9 is making a lot of buzz, especially when the actress spoke openly about her 4-year-long secret relationship with Anuj Sachdeva, on the show. But did you know Urvashi had to give up something equally interesting to be a part of the famous dance reality show?

For those who didn’t know, Urvashi was essaying the character of  Draupadi in a play titled, Mahabharat, which is directed by famous actor, Puneet Issar. However, now due to Nach Baliye 9, the actress could not work out her dates for the play and had to opt out of it.

Urvashi

The moment we came to know about it, SpotboyE.com contacted Urvashi to know the reason behind it and she said, "Yes, I am no longer a part of the play, Mahabharata which is produced by Felicity Theatre and directed by Puneet Issar due to my commitment to Nach Baliye 9. Unfortunately, the dates are clashing as the plays usually takes place on weekends and my shoots also take place at the same time. So, it was a mutual decision taken by both of us. I think it was to leave the play and make way for someone else to take my place.”

Along with Urvashi Dholakia, Puneet Issar, his son Siddhanth, Meghna Malik, Gufi Paintal, Rahul Bhuchar are also a part of the play. While talking about her role, Urvashi had said in an earlier interview to a section of media, "Everybody has a version of Draupadi. But she was never a damsel in distress. Draupadi is fiery, independent and opinionated, and very similar to the woman of today.”

Puneet Issar, who was a part of BR Chopra's Mahabharata in 1988, came back with its adaptation three decades later as Duryodhana — only this time, on stage. It’s a version of the epic battle from the point of view of its greatest villain- Duryodhana.

Coming back to Urvashi, she made her theatre debut with this play. It was the first time she performed in a play in her career spanning over 20 years. Well, it would have been a difficult decision for the actress to take. After all, it was a choice between two stages, and don’t we know how much a true actor loves centre stage?
